\"EverythingIn a recent blog posted\u00a0on July 12<\/span>th<\/span>, 2021\u00a0–\u00a0<\/span>New Printing Security Nightmare You Need to Be Aware of in 2021<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>I had informed you that a new vulnerability was discovered for users across multiple versions of the Windows operating system that could enable significant exploits.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This vulnerability was called \u201cPrintNightmare\u201d which took advantage of a security hole found within the Windows Print Spooler service.\u00a0To address the security vulnerability Microsoft immediately released a patch \u201cKB5005652\u201d.\u202fHowever, unlike a bad dream where you just\u00a0have to\u00a0wake up and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0over this patch didn\u2019t stop the nightmare.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a recent write up by\u00a0<\/span>Susan Bradley of Computer World<\/span><\/a>, she explains that the Microsoft patch fixed the security problem however it created a lot of issues and inconveniences for organizations where the patch was prompting users to reinstall drivers or new drivers \u2014 which they can\u2019t do if they didn\u2019t have admin privileges. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In her closing statements, she is clearly frustrated with Microsoft stating they have broken printing too many times in the past year and that they need to be more aware of their customers not being paperless yet and need to support them better.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
