What is UniPrint secure pull printing?

This is a follow me print solution where users print to one virtual print queue. To release the job, you authenticate on vPad device or vPad connector using AD Username and PIN, RFID, or HID. With secure print release, print jobs will be held until the user is ready to print. The user can authenticate themselves either at the printer, using embedded software on the printer or through an external device (e.g. a smartcard). After authentication, the user will be presented with a list of available print jobs. The user can pick and choose which jobs they wish to print at any given time.

Secure print release provides a simple solution that places jobs in a holding state until the user authenticates and releases the job at the printer. Users may select individual jobs to release or have jobs automatically print after successful authentication.

What is Virtual Print Queue (VPQ)?

Based on UniPrint’s Virtual Print Infrastructure, your Systems Administrator only needs to set up one print queue for users. After the user prints to the VPQ, he/she can walk over to the nearest print station with the vPad, and then authenticate to release the print job.

With the vPad appliance, do we need custom firmware for the printers?

Installation of the vPad is a straightforward plug and play, and zero configuration is required on the remote site. No custom firmware is required for printers.
